Reduced carbon footprint
~23t CO₂ reduction per T of asphalt mix
Improved quality of asphalt
UV, acid, and alkali resistant
CPDA® is used as an additive to the polymer modified asphalt mixes such as stone mastic asphalt and SMA. It is added during asphalt mix preparation (dry process) as opposed to pre-modifying heated bitumen with polymer additives (wet process)
Using the additive results in asphalt with improved performance characteristics: increased resistance to rutting, lower temperature sensitivity and higher fatigue strength under repeated load exposure).
Suitable for use in road surface materials, it has already been tested in real-life projects in Kazakhstan.
Parameter | CPDA® | BASF's Butonal® |
---|---|---|
Type of material, storage conditions | + Dry mixture, stable, long shelf life, can withstand T up to +240°C | - Liquid, 2-year shelf life, optimum storage T +5°C to +20°C |
Usage, mixing | + Requires a simple dispenser, mixed with dry stone material before adding bitumen, 10-15 s mixing time | - Requires special equipment installation for mixing |
Finished product qualities | + UV, acid and alkali resistant | - Inclusion of water in the mix |
+ High plasticity / low fragility at low temperature | + Frost-resistance | |
+ High softening point, overall heat- and frost-resistance | + Increased ductility at high temperatures | |

CPDA® has been used and proved its effectiveness through number of road construction projects Kazakhstan. Below, photographs are shown from the construction of the 16 km stretch of P-10 Southwest Nur-Sultan (Astana) Bypass, taken place in 2017. SMA20 mix has been used combined with the CPDA® additive.
We further list completed and planned projects utilising the CPDA® additive.
